WEDDING PLANNING - ARRANGING THE DAY
The Normandy Hotel offers some of the best wedding facilities in Glasgow and our Wedding co-ordinators will work with you from your first enquiry to the day itself. They will be pleased to show you around the hotel and advise you on how your reception will run. They will discuss costs and help you maximise what you can offer your guests within your budget.
And when the day comes around they will liaise with the hotel staff on your behalf to ensure that you can relax.
COUNTDOWN
Below rough schedule to help you plan your wedding
12-6 months- Arrange the wedding with clergyman/registrar
- Compile the guest list
- Chose bridesmaids, best man and ushers
- Shop for dresses
- Book honeymoon
5-4 months- Book the photographer and video company
- Order the wedding cake 1 Make a gift list
2 months - Post the invites Send out the gift list
1 month- Finalise details with hotel
- Visit the hairdresser and practice make-up
- Dress fittings
1 week- Rehearsals
- Finalise honeymoon
- Make final checks on cake. Flowers, photographer, video, transport etc
WEDDING ETIQUIETTE
To help plan your wedding reception, here are some aspects of traditional wedding etiquette which we hope you will find useful
THE RECEIVING LINE
The full receiving line is an ideal way to greet your guests before commencing the wedding meal. It is composed as follows:
Bride's Mother, Bride's Father, Groom's Mother, Groom's Father, Bride, Groom, Bridesmaids, Best Man
TOP TABLE SEATING
The following seating plan is a suggestion and can be altered to suit your requirements:
Best Man, Chief Bridesmaid, Groom's Father, Bride's Mother. Groom, Bride, Bride's Father, Groom's Mother, Bridesmaid
TOASTS AND SPEECHES
The Bride's Father (or a family friend) proposes the toast to the Bride and Groom.
This is replied to by the Groom, who thanks both sets of parents and guest. He also toasts the Bridesmaids
The Best Man replies on behalf of the Bridesmaids and reads the cards and telegrams.
