MILLPORT GOLF CLUB
Millport Golf Club on the Isle of Cumbrae was founded in 1888 making it one of the oldest established courses on the Firth of Clyde. The island is only 4 miles long and 2 miles wide. The 18 hole course commands one of the most dramatic vistas in Scottish golf.
Panoramic views over the Firth include Ailsa Craig, the Isle of Bute, the Cowal Peninsula and Arran. Looking across to Arran provides a spectacular vista of Goat Fell and The Sleeping Warrior. This heathland course is situated above the town of Millport. In 1913 the well-known golf course architect, James Braid, was invited to lay out the course "to suit the modern game".
The course measures just short of 6000yards, has a par of 68 with SSS of 69 and demands a full repertoire of shot making - there are several blind shots to test golfers skills.
Location
Millport Golf Club is located on the Isle of Cumbrae, just 35 minutes drive from the Erskine Bridge Hotel. A ferry must be taken from the town of Largs, and ferries run frequently. The longer trip to this course is well worth the effort with its unique terrain and spectacular views. Please feel free to use Multimap for driving directions to the course from our hotel.
Visit the Caledonian MacBrayne website for ferry timetables and fare prices.
