Voted “Favourite UK City” in 2006 by the readers of Condé Naste - Traveller magazine, it was quoted that “Glasgow enjoys a year-round buzz that visitors just love”. Among Glasgow’s other great titles which include “European City of Culture” given in 1999, “UK City of Architecture and Design” also awarded in 1999, and most recently Glasgow was voted “one of the UK’s top shopping destinations” (second only to London) for sheer volume and variety. Glasgow is fast becoming a well established and unique City. And it’s not just the incredibly friendly Glaswegian “banter” that is winning over tourists, but rather some of the best culture and style that Scotland has to offer.

If you head towards central Glasgow you will find the City consists of buildings dating back to medieval times, beautiful Victorian mansions and unique and modern present day architecture. This in itself is a reason to visit the City.

The surrounding areas of Glasgow have some of the best of Scotland's scenery, from the rolling hills of the Clyde Valley to the gorgeous walking country of East Dunbartonshire that borders the south-west Highlands. If you explore further, you'll find that many of the towns and villages in areas such as Paisley, Hamilton, Biggar, Greenock, Gourock and of course the amazing New Lanark World Heritage Site make great day excursions from the city and offer a range of attractions that make discovering their rich history a real joy.
