Walks Around Renfrewshire

Whilst staying at Cosmopolitan Hotels, why not go walking to explore this compact area – you can really get close to the scenery, history and wildlife.  There are various walking routes established in the area and some right on the door step of our hotels! We thoroughly recommend spending an afternoon of your stay exploring the surrounding area by foot, whether you are visiting alone or with your family. You can tour the sights of Renfrew, or Erskine and get to know its fascinating parks and open spaces. Or Renfrew’s proud heritage, with a walk along the now quiet banks of the Clyde.
If you prefer the countryside, there are walks around the grand estate of Formakin, along the lochside at Lochwinnoch, or through the gorge of the River Gryfe at Bridge of Weir. There’s even an adventurous hike up into the wild Renfrewshire moorlands.

Below are a few of the many walks offered by the area , so get out and make the most of your trip. You might be surprised at what Renfrewshire has to offer!

Erskine and the Clyde

Car park signed “Erskine Riverfront Walkway” off Kilpatrick Drive, Erskine. The Car park is about 150m behind Erskine Town Centre towards the River Clyde, near Erskine Community Sports Centre. The distance travelled would be just under 6km (4miles) it is recommended to allow 2 hours. The Terrain is mostly flat on wide firm footpaths, either tarmac or gravel. There are no stiles or gates however there is a steep section in Boden Boo where boots would be useful.

Renfrew and its Rivers

Travel from the War Memorial at Renfrew Cross close to the junction of Hairst Street, Inchinnan Road and Paisley Road, at the very heart of Renfrew.  The distance travelled will be 6km (4 miles) and it is recommended to allow 2 to 3 hours. The walk is entirely on pavements or good footpaths, although some sections have rough surfaces. Walkers are advised to wear comfortable shoes.
